Gerald Robinson is President and CEO of 1st Choice Mortgage Company, LLC - an independent Idaho brokerage serving homebuyers and homeowners since 1992. A licensed mortgage broker in Idaho and Oregon, Gerald has personally guided borrowers through the home-financing process for more than two decades, beginning his lending career in 2002.

As a broker rather than a single bank, Gerald shops each file across many wholesale lenders to match borrowers with the right program - from VA and FHA loans to USDA Rural Development, conventional, Idaho Housing, and reverse mortgages - always with plain-English guidance and a local perspective.

Born in Marsing and raised across Boise, Meridian, and Nampa, Gerald's deep roots in the Treasure Valley give him a firsthand understanding of Idaho's neighborhoods and real estate landscape. A proud graduate of Centennial High School and Boise State University, Gerald lives in Nampa with his wife and three children.

When he isn't helping families finance a home, Gerald is usually somewhere in the Idaho backcountry. He's an avid outdoorsman who enjoys backpacking, mountain biking, skiing - snow, water, and sand - and fishing across the Gem State.

Serving Clients and Community

Gerald doesn't just serve clients - he serves his community. A lifelong Scout, he is an Eagle Scout and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and the District Award of Merit. In 2026 he was inducted into the Mountain West Council Hall of Fame for Boy Scouts of America, and he continues to serve as an adult leader with Troop 77 in Eagle, Idaho.

His commitment to giving back extends to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, the national nonprofit that builds and delivers beds for children who don't have one - guided by a simple goal: "No kid sleeps on the floor in our town." Gerald's involvement goes well beyond volunteering: he serves on the organization's national Board of Directors and its Executive Committee, helping steer the mission across the country.

National Advocacy for Independent Mortgage Brokers

Gerald's expertise has extended to the national stage. Through May 2026 he served as Chair of the Government Affairs Leadership Council within the Broker Action Coalition (BAC), helping shape federal policy affecting independent mortgage brokers and the consumers they serve. He has also held advocacy leadership roles with the Association of Independent Mortgage Experts (AIME), including Advocacy Committee Chairman and State Captain for Idaho.

An issue Gerald worked especially hard on was the fight against mortgage "trigger leads" - the practice of credit bureaus selling a borrower's information the moment they apply for a mortgage, unleashing a flood of unsolicited calls and texts from competing lenders. He was an active voice in the industry-wide push behind the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act, the bipartisan federal law that amends the Fair Credit Reporting Act to sharply restrict trigger leads. It was signed into law in September 5th, 2025, and its core protections took effect in March 4th, 2026 - a tangible win for homebuyers that Gerald was proud to help advance. This work reflects a longstanding commitment to the mortgage industry and the consumers it serves - not just in Idaho, but nationwide.
